DEX QM LUBRICANTS

Lubricants that drastically reduce friction, last much longer than standard products and significantly improve the performance of engines, gearboxes and hydraulic systems. DEX Premium Lubricants achieves this with an aerospace developed refinement process based on Quantum Mechanics (QM).

Spheres
The process, which took many years of development, consists of a number of steps. First of all, the base oil of the lubricant selected by the customer is processed with the DEX QM technology in the production facility. Here, the carbon chains in the oil are transformed into tightly packed 'balls'. The finally treated oil cannot be distinguished chemically from the original base oil, but behaves extremely better in practice. The treated oil is then transferred to the blender, which adds the necessary additives to meet the manufacturer's required specifications. The result is a premium lubricant that fully meets all the specifications required by the customer (and the OEM), but offers superior performance compared to traditional lubricants.

When in use, the 'beads' in the lubricants create an ultra-thin, highly elastic and constantly moving layer between the surface and the lubricant. This drastically reduces friction. This reduces wear and corrosion, among other things, and greatly reduces maintenance costs for the end user.

Longer life
In practice, DEX QM lubricants last much longer than traditional products, at least 4 to 10 times longer. This means that less often oil has to be changed. And also this makes the lubricants more durable than those of the competition. Apart from the CO2 savings that occur as a result of reduced fuel consumption, each litre of oil that does not need to be changed also saves over six kilos of CO2. This is 2.87 kg well to carter and 3.15 kg disposal and combustion. And then, of course, there are the savings in lubricant costs and the man-hours required for oil changes.

Fuel consumption
DEX QM technology also reduces the so-called no-load losses by 20%, lowering fuel consumption and thus CO2 emissions. Depending on the conditions, fuel consumption can be reduced by 5 to 8%. The CO2 reduction follows the reduction in fuel consumption. In practice, this is close to or exceeds this percentage.

Cleaner engine
The better combustion also ensures a cleaner engine and reduced emissions of particulates. Poor combustion leads to soot formation. These are incompletely burned carbon particles. As a result of the improved combustion in the combustion chamber, soot formation and the formation of incompletely burned carbon (carbon monoxide) are greatly reduced. An additional advantage is that EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) systems remain clean. They do not char and therefore do not lose their function.

Wear and noise
Other benefits of DEX QM technology include reduced wear and less noise on board. Thanks to lower vibration and noise levels, the lubricants make the processes less vulnerable. In inland navigation, the new noise requirements of the CCNR also play a role. In many cases the lubricants of DEX reduce the noise by half. Because of the DEX QM technology, the lubricants are also much easier to pump. The engines also require less maintenance. Wear and tear does not occur linearly, but progressively. Even if we fill oils with the anti-friction additive molybdenum, DEX QM technology still performs 15% better. This means that the progression in wear is reduced by at least 50%. Compared to base oils without additives DEX extends the life of parts by a factor of two to three.

Less maintenance
Due to the DEX QM technology, the lubricants behave smoother. Therefore they perform better in cold conditions, even at temperatures well below -40 degrees Celsius. The extreme VI / pressure properties of DEX QM lubricants are very good, the highest achievable in the industry, that in equipment where these properties are important, an extremely low viscosity is sufficient. And a lower viscosity means less energy consumption. These extreme VI and pressure properties have been established by the ISP and in field tests.

Our engines are being stressed so much that we usually have to completely change all lubricants after about 250 hours of operation. When using Dex QM Premium Lubricants, this is no longer an issue: we are already over 9,000 operational hours, and the lubricant is still doing its job fine. The engine runs smoother, and the oil is still in excellent condition.
